Adam Cole-Kelly presents: Believe the Hyphen

I have a hyphenated last name that I've used as the basis for the name of my blog which in and of itself is a play on words. Clever's got a new home folks. Make yourselves comfortable.

Funnies in Polish

On the subway just now I noticed that in a Polish newspaper the timeless cartoon Calvin and Hobbes is called Kevin I Hoops. That is entirely absurd. First of all, proper names need not be translated. Second of all, I refuse to believe that the Polish name for Calvin is Kevin and I'm even less willing to accept that there is a Polish equivalent of Hobbes and even if there was, I'll be damned if it's Hoops. I'm fairly certain the letters l and b exist in the Polish alphabet. What gives, Poland cartoon translators? I hope you squared this away with Bill Waterson before introducing the Polish speaking public to such misnamed imposters.

Also I got a job today. Given how things went down with my last apparent job, I'm not going to discuss this one any further until my first paid day. But barring disaster, I think I'm back on the grind. Hooray.

I don't get why you keep capitalizing polish. I put it on my shoes every day and I never capitalize it unless it comes at the beginning of a sentence. And even then I'm reluctant. Who are polish people anyway? And why are they doing reading cartoons?
