Rain Checks
Another rainy day here in “la manzana grande” as I like to call it. My lunch plans with my former boss and another friend/ ex co-worker just got moved to Thursday. When you're unemployed last minute changes like that really take on added significance. That was to be my day. Now what do I do? 1pm lunch in the city was the lynchpin around which today was to be crafted. Now my whole structure is unstable. How am I supposed to rebound from this? I'm kidding mostly. At least now my Thursday's taking shape- that's when we rescheduled for. You may have noticed that I added a link to the site. It says Wade. It's underneath the monthly archives. It's a link to the blog of Adam Wade, comedian, friend and quality guy. I'm learning ever so slowly about sprucing things up on the blogspot. Right now I have to figure out how to get the Links over to the right a bit more so that it doesn't look like I pasted it when I was drunk. At the risk of losing readers I plan on providing links to several of my other comedian friend's websites and blogs. Good news: my blog now comes up as the second thing when you google my name (so I've heard... naturally I wouldn't stoop to googling myself in my spare time.) My apartment is currently being heated by a monster sized Modine high efficiency heater. This bad boy rustles every loose papers in the entire 60 plus foot long loft every time it gets a crankin'. I've seen jet engines with less raw power. It keeps us warm but it's highly disruptive to any conversation, music listening, television or movie viewing and most viciously any house of card construction that you may attempt while it's blasting away. I guess you have to take the good with the bad. I'm on two conversational crusades right now. One is to eliminate the question "what's new?" from my small talk repertoire because all it ever leads to is somebody saying "nothing, you?" and you replying "not too much." That's an exchange we can all do without. It's all about specificity in those questions. Give somebody something to work with, something without such an easy out. How great is the word specificity by the way? My second crusade is against the similarly uninformative expression "it is what it is." Yes, isn't everything what it is? Thanks for shedding so much light on the matter by letting me know that it is what it is. I fully understand how you feel about things now. Time to go brave the rain and the isle of Manhattan. If I don't post again within two hours know that I'm cold and wet and please pity me.

Dude, the link to Wade's blog is not working. Those of us who do nothing all day are looking to you to provide us with entertainment. Please don't disappoint. Love ya, shmado.
